Halfway through the month!

Figured this would be as good a time as any to begin blogging about nothing at all whatsoever. :P AKA my NaNoWriMo.  I trashed the first one I began. I got up to 5K on it. And failed to continue due to... everything.

Now I'm writing a new one. I just hit 2K a minute ago. This is mostly due to lack of sleep, overbearing sanity, and an inability to focus on anything other than friends and music for the last two weeks.

My record for the first half of the month still lies at 7K.

The most interesting thing about this year's NaNo is that I'm attempting something new and writing poems more than nearly anything else. There are so many poetry forms that I've never tried. And as poetry comes fairly easily (until you try to get me to write iambic. . .), I figured why not? :P

Prologue:

(acrostic)
Fleeting are the seasons, now tis winter and shadows tall.
Lack of hatchlings make dragon tears flow,
And yet three come forth: Rockclaw, Brambletooth, and Flakefall.
Every dragon aspires to Valorwings, a DragonGang of lore.
Few reach the legend that all desire and Flakefall even more.
His brothers laugh and jeer,
Lack of respect seeping into Flakefall's fears,
Longing to prove himself to all near.

Above are plans unseen by mortals here and now.
Near draws the time for all,
Dragons and Men, to reach out and change the world.

Viselike is the grip upon the royal family,
In blindness they are trapped.
Not content to be bound in chains, Vinnia soon will run.
Not content to risk all for souls unknown, the king cowers within.
In darkness, stars are seen too far out of reach
And Vinnia will bide her time.

(something else... I don't remember what)
Lo, here below the princess confronts her dear father,
And the tears are running from her sad violet eyes.
Vinnia is bound by law to stay here at home
But all she has ever longed to do is run farther still.
Her father refuses to let her depart
Even now as the princess confronts her father king,
And the tears run from her sad violet eyes.

(I think this one is the CinqTroisDecaLa Rhyme)
Above the kingdom, Flakefall has learned to fly swift like Valorwings.
Brambletooth and Rockclaw learned faster but Flakefall still sings
For he can now dive and twirl and dip as he pleases, happy.
But his talents lie in other pursuits such as poetry.
For Flakefall is a dragon born poet to write such light songs,
Such inspiring, such beautiful things for which to long.
Gems of words and jewels of turns of phrases that knell his gong.
But the other dragons laugh and in the trash, poems fling,
And Flakefall has learned to hide his gifts well, sadly.
But a song may be what the kingdom needs to heal its sad wrongs.
